A Shoemakers’ Street Portrait (2011)

Walking around the alleys of Satwa with a Photog Mate one afternoon just a few months back, we happen to pass by this interesting handmade shoe shop, right along a back street. As I peeked in, the lone shopkeeper and the shop itself had such character my shutter finger was itching to capture it. But light wasn’t so favorable that time and I was a bit intimidated by the shopkeeper’s stern expression, and decided to come back for it soon.

A few weekends later, my Photog Mate and I agreed to come back to the area for a photo walk. As we reached the shop, I asked the shopkeepers, as there were two now, if I could take their picture. To my surprise, they were quite hospitable and was even delighted of their pictures being taken.

Captured in 35mm Film with the Zorki 4.
